Argentina Memorial Projects – created by Wilfried Agricola de Cologne – started already 2004, when the 1st version of “Family Portrait” has been launched in the context of “Women: Memory of Repression in Argentina” dealing with the Argentinian 20th century military dictatorships and the opposition of “Mothers of Plaza de Mayo”, a project which again was created as a corporate part of the global networking project [R][R][F] – Remembering-Repressing-Forgetting

Both integral projects became independent and standing alone projects in 2005, but remained also corporate parts of the mentioned contexts.

Family Portrait and the entire Argentine memorial context “Women: Memory of Repression in Argentina” form an essential part of “A Virtual Memorial Foundation” and “AVMCI – A Virtual Memorial Commemorative Interventions”. The genocide in Argentina, which is also called the Argentine “Holocaust” cannot be thought without the historical Holocaust taking place just 20 years earlier, and again many of the victims of the Argentine Holocaust were Jews, who were thinking – like the Partnoy Family – Argentina would be their rescue from the previous persecutions.

While “Family Portrait” and “Women: Memory of Repression in Argentina” are projects realised between 2003 and 2007, another important complementary component is representing the Argentinian part on Collective Trauma Film Collection, whose start was launched in 2013, and ongoing project complementing the Argentina Projects.

The Argentina Memorial Project, which is coordinating all artistic memorial activities realted to Argentina was launched in June 2015, representing at the same time the starting point of new activities.
